Learn how to build, edit, and share a day-by-day Japan ski trip plan with the free Trip Planner — made for families visiting from Tokyo.
The Trip Planner is a free tool on Japow Guides. It helps you plan a ski trip in Japan, day by day. You do not need an account, and you do not need to give us any personal information.
The Trip Planner is new and still in beta. This means we are still improving it, and you may find a bug. If something does not work, please tell us through the contact page. You can also find the link in the site footer. Your message helps us make the tool better.
This guide shows you how to use it.
The Trip Planner works in three steps:
You can start a trip in about two minutes. Try it here: Plan a Trip
First, enter your travel dates and your starting point. When you type a hotel or station name, the form suggests places for you. Pick one from the list.
Next, add the people in your group:
We do not ask for names, emails, or phone numbers. Children appear in your plan as "Child 1 (age 4–6)", "Child 2 (age 7–12)", and so on. The Trip Planner does not collect personal data.
The planner uses the age groups and skill levels to suggest resorts that fit your family. For example, a resort with a good kids' ski school for a 5-year-old beginner.
Each day in your plan is a timeline. A line (the "rail") runs down the page and connects the stops of your day, from morning to evening.
Read the day from top to bottom. That is your schedule.
Every plan is a starting point. You can change it.
Tap any stop in your day. A panel opens from the bottom of the screen. At the top of the panel you will see three actions:
The panel header stays in place while you scroll, so the actions are always easy to reach.
Open the Share menu on your trip. You will see two kinds of links:
The edit link also works for you. If you open it on your phone, your tablet, or another computer, you can edit your trip from that device too.
If you shared the edit link by mistake, use Reset edit link. This creates a new edit link and turns off the old one. Your view link keeps working as before.
Is it free? Yes. The Trip Planner is free to use. There is no account and no payment.
Where is my trip saved? Your trip is saved online, so your links always work. The browser you used also remembers your trip on that device. Keep your edit link safe — it is the key to editing your trip from other devices.
Can I print or export it? You can print your plan from your browser (File → Print). A PDF export button is not available yet.
Can my family edit it? Yes. Send them the edit link. Anyone with the edit link can change the trip. If you only want them to see it, send the view link instead.
What if something does not work? The Trip Planner is a free beta version, so some things may not work perfectly yet. Please tell us about any problem through the contact page. We read every message, and your report helps us fix the tool.
