Hoshino Nekoma Mountain will open its North area on Saturday, 28 November 2026 for the 2026-2027 winter season. The North area is planned to stay open until Sunday, 9 May 2027. The South area opens two weeks later, on Saturday, 12 December 2026, and is planned to close on Sunday, 4 April 2027.
This means that in late November and early December, only the North area is open. If you plan to arrive at the South side, check which area is running before you go. The resort says the dates can change with snow conditions.
For families, the resort has a free snow play area called Akabeko Hiroba. A new budget lodge, BunkLodge NEKOMA, also opens at the South area base on 12 January 2027. It is designed for groups who want to spend most of the day on the slopes.
Nekoma is in Fukushima, about 2 hours 45 minutes from Tokyo. The usual route is the Tohoku Shinkansen to Koriyama Station, then a reserved bus to the South area.
