Shiga Kogen Yokoteyama opened for 2025-2026 on 20 November

Yokoteyama opened for the 2025-2026 winter season on 20 November 2025. The summit is 2,307 metres high, which makes it the highest ski area in Japan.

Because it is so high, Yokoteyama has one of the longest seasons in the country, and skiing continued into late spring 2026. On clear days, you can see the Northern Alps. A long run down to Kumanoyu gives about 4,000 metres of descent.
