Cold, light snow and no artificial snow

Aomori Spring sits on the northern tip of Honshu, on Mount Iwaki. The cold, northern location brings dry, light powder snow through the season, and the resort uses no artificial snow. It is known among international skiers as one of the best powder resorts on Honshu, and from the 2025-26 season ticket sales are capped at 1,200 per day to keep the slopes uncrowded.

Easy for overseas families to plan

Aomori Spring offers full English support across its website, signs, and services. For families visiting Japan for the first time, this removes much of the worry about language. A gondola climbs to about 921 metres, and the long 3,400-metre run can be enjoyed by improving skiers, with a children's snow play area for younger visitors.

Stay at the base and soak with sea views

The base has the Rockwood Hotel & Spa, a ski-in hotel with hot spring baths. The baths look out over the Tsugaru Plain and the Sea of Japan, and on clear nights the view includes the stars. Staying at the base makes the long trip north easier and turns the visit into a relaxing ski-and-onsen stay.
