Most of the area is left ungroomed
About 65 to 70% of the skiable area at Charmant Hiuchi is left ungroomed. The ungroomed zones keep their natural shape, with deep snow, tree runs, gullies, and bowls. The north-facing slopes and heavy snowfall give reliable powder, and a loyal group of skiers returns each season for it.
Open until around Golden Week
Charmant Hiuchi is one of the better-known tree-run mountains in the area. Snowboarding is allowed across the whole resort, and there is a board park. Thanks to its deep snow, the season runs late, until around Golden Week, so it is a strong choice for spring powder when many resorts have closed.
Ski above the Sea of Japan
The resort faces north over the Sea of Japan, and on clear days the sea views from the slopes are striking. The base is relaxed and uncrowded compared with big-name resorts. There is a snow park and a kids room for families, and a mountain-top restaurant known for its crab and salmon-roe rice bowl using local seafood.
