Yakebitaiyama closed on 1 May after rapid snowmelt

Yakebitaiyama ended its 2025-2026 winter season on 1 May 2026. Rain caused rapid snowmelt, and the resort decided it could not keep the runs safe.

Even so, Yakebitaiyama is a high resort in Shiga Kogen and usually keeps good snow well into spring. For late-season snow here, the safer time is up to mid-April.
