Yakebitaiyama plans a 4 December pre-opening, with skiing into May

Shiga Kogen Yakebitaiyama plans to open on Friday, 4 December 2026 for the 2026-2027 winter season. The resort calls this day a pre-opening. The season is planned to run until Wednesday, 5 May 2027, a national holiday.

Last season, Yakebitaiyama opened on 6 December, so this start is two days earlier. The long season to early May makes it one of the resorts to consider for a spring trip.

For families, children of elementary school age and younger ride the lifts at Yakebitaiyama free.

Yakebitaiyama sits in the Shiga Kogen area, about 3 hours 30 minutes from Tokyo. Take the Hokuriku Shinkansen to Nagano Station, then an express bus to Shiga Kogen and a short resort shuttle.
